Kikiriki, šišmiš, and other Bosnian words I enjoy
Paradajz is pronounced paradise and means tomato
Once you learn the alphabet you can pretty much pronounce any word in Bosnian. However, on first glance, Bosnian words can look as though they’re missing vowels.
djevojka - girlfriend
mladoženja - groom
vjenčanica - wedding dress

My fiance is Bosnian and I practice Bosnian every day. By the time we’re married I’ll be able to pronounce my new last name. I hope.
Here are a few of my favorite Bosnian sayings:
Sedi i jedi - Sit and eat, it rhymes so it sounds like SEE-YEH-DEE EE YEH-DI
Živi život - Live life. The carrot top Z is pronounced like j in jungle or jack.
Nema problema - No problem

Doviđenja! - Goodbye, pronounced DOE-VI-JEN-YA, or if you’re like my dad, it sounds like GO VIRGINIA if you say it really fast.
